OUR MICHELLE'S A WINNER!
December 2022
Michelle Kelly is a devoted carer for her partner Tommy after he slipped on a patch of ice while on a work night out. He hit his head so hard that he spent three months in a coma. The accident left Tommy with a life-changing brain injury. Tommy is unable to care for himself and needs assistance with actions many of us take for granted. The community at Headway Sefton know Michelle & Tommy as one of our liveliest couples. Tommy with his one-liners and Michelle with a smile that could warm the coldest heart!
Alongside working full time and caring for Tommy, Michelle also volunteers at Headway Sefton supporting our community to come to terms with the challenges they face. This is why Michelle won the Headway Carer of the Year Award 2022
Michelle has been given this national award for her care of Tommy. Michelle said:
"I don’t do this for any other reason than it’s what needs to be done. If I can help just one person, then I’ll do it. I was very surprised to find out I had been nominated. Headway Sefton has been there for us from the first day the charity opened its doors. We are like one big family.
I’m so grateful for the support network I have through Headway."
Luke Griggs, Headway’s Chief Executive, said: "You cannot fail to be moved by Michelle’s generosity. Her selfless determination to help Tommy navigate life after brain injury is incredible.
CONGRATULATIONS MICHELLE!

TOWER WOOD RESIDENTIAL 2022
August 2022
In August 2022, our annual Headway Sefton residential to Tower Wood in Windemere finally returned aftercovid-19 lockdowns leading to a 2 year pause. This is a yearly opportunity for community members who attend regularly to have a short break to take part in relaxation, accessible activities and have the opportunity to visit the beautiful Lake Windemere
Many of our community members would be unable to afford to access a trip like this independently. Please click HERE and head to our fundraising page to see how you can help us raise money to repeat this empowering opportunity in the future.
